Good design is all about

Overcoming Obstacles

Creating good design is about problem-solving and overcoming obstacles that can prevent your business from reaching its full potential! Assessing your goals, target audience, and resources is a huge part of what I do.

Through Athas Design, I collaborate with businesses and individuals who want to communicate a clear and meaningful visual story. Nothing makes me happier than collaborating with my clients to create design that is clear, balanced, and meaningful! Over the past few years, I’ve worked with many wonderful business owners, individuals, and creative minds to create branding and design for a large variety of projects and applications. From business branding to art and illustration, visual art always has a story to tell.

ABOUT ATHAS DESIGN

  • I have always been passionate about the arts but was intrigued by graphic design as an avenue for artistic expression as well as a career path. I went to school for web design and advertising arts with the long-term goal of being a work-from-home mom once we decided to start a family. Since it isn’t a sustainable income at first, I worked in the service for three years before I was able to put much time into my design work. I had my first son in 2016 and because we couldn’t afford childcare, I began taking on freelance jobs through Athas Design a couple of months later. I started my business out of a mixture of necessity and curiosity, and it has become the most fulfilling and gratifying experience to be able to work in this field.

  • Ask any business owner and they’ll tell you- it’s a rollercoaster of emotions, finances, and routine, sometimes from day-to-day! Owning my own business has shown me my limitations just as much as it’s shown me what I’m truly capable of. Each year that I continue to grow this business I feel more capable and less apprehensive, and I’m thankful for every moment that I’ve been able to spend on this journey, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

  • We are blessed to live in a small community that values and uplifts marginalized individuals and families. I’ve been able to work on multiple projects with ministries and non-profits here in Kansas that come alongside individuals experiencing drug addiction, PTSD, abuse, and houselessness. I also give a percentage of my profits every month to organizations that work on a worldwide scale empowering and serving people in need. I want every person to feel equipped and supported to pursue their dreams and provide for themselves or their families, I know I wouldn't be here if I didn't receive that support from others. This part of my work is incredibly important to me and very humbling. I will always feel privileged to both know and work alongside people who have a heart for serving marginalized people groups and families.

WHY IS GOOD DESIGN IMPORTANT?

  • Brand Identity is so much more than just a logo. Your brand tells the story of who you are, what your business does, and connects with your target audience in a memorable way. Your brand is there to make your company stand out from the rest, so why not do it right?

  • Your logo is often the first thing a consumer associates with your business. Making it look nice is surely important, but if you don't curate a connection with your audience you could have the nicest logo in the world and still no new leads.

  • When you are shopping or looking for a service provider, their branding and design have a lot more to do with your decision-making than you’d think! There is incredible psychology that goes into good design. A good design takes knowledge of your business PLUS research on your target audience PLUS design psychology to create design that is both pleasing to look at and functional in its ability to draw in leads from your target audience.
